Tripod sitting

The onbuhimo requires the child to good "trunk" control. This is when baby is able to tripod sit. As soon as they do this, you can put them in the onbuhimo!

Standard size Onbuhimo

baby

Baby/standard size is a universal size of the carrier - it will fit an infant (who can tripod sit) as well as an older child. We recommend this size for children from 4 months until 2T pant length

Recommended for kiddos who are wearing a 2t pant size and mamas who want a snug comfortable fit.

Preschool Size onbuhimo

This carrier is much bigger than the toddler size. It will fit as small as 2T pants, but for parents who are small or only using this in the house, we recommend using this size when child is 3t-4t in pant length.

*Important information*

If you have never used an Onbuhimo, be prepared to practice with this carrier style. It is a more challenging style of carrier to use. It takes some patience and practice. Most people do not get it right the first time.

Fit-check photos can be posted in our Facebook group, or emailed to us. We have a group of others who will gladly help give you some tips and tricks, and sometimes they have a faster response time.

The Onbuhimo carrier is not the perfect style of carrier for everyone. You will only be using your shoulders to support your baby. The best way that we can explain how this carrier will feel on your body is to describe it as a bookbag packed full of books. If carrying a bookbag full of books would hurt your back soon after putting it on, we highly recommend looking at an SSC-style carrier like the LennyLight.

This style carrier may cost a little bit more but offers much more support since it has a waistband. The waistband will allow your whole torso to support your child’s weight. The SSC-style carrier also makes getting a comfortable fit for the caregiver and child much easier.

We hope this helps! Please reach out if you have any questions.

Loving it!

I’m enjoying this carrier for my 9 month old, and it looks very nice and un-bulky.

Horrible quality and horrible customer service.

Undecided

Some reviews say fast shipping. My order took 2 whole weeks to arrive, even though I ordered on a Tuesday, which is one of their ship days. The item does look beautiful and well made, but is a major struggle to learn to use, even with the various YT videos, including Mama and Roo's instructional videos. My 8-month-old baby fusses a lot when she's in it, as though she's uncomfortable. I tried the Onbuhimo b/c my Boppy front-facing carrier was getting harder to wear as my baby got older. However, this Onbuhimo is FAR more uncomfortable FAR more quickly. My back and shoulders are in pain within minutes. I still really want this to work, so I am going to try a few more times, and work on adjusting it per the company's detailed video. If this doesn't work, I am returning it. It's far too expensive a purchase to not be comfortable and easy to use. The Boppy is MUCH easier to learn and use.

Poor Quality, Even Worse Customer Service

Absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated as a new customer. My package arrived open and missing items. I provided photos immediately, and didn’t get a response back for over a week, even with sending multiple emails and messages. I requested to cancel the missing items due to the lack of communication, and it was only then that I received a response stating that was not possible. I was told the items had already be processed and shipped, but tracking for those items did not even go live until 2 days later. I will never do business with them again.

Hi Ashley,

Thank you for reaching out and leaving an honest review. I took a look at what happened with your order. It looks like Jessi replied to your initial email regarding missing items right away. She then forwarded the photos you sent to the warehouse right away, where a claim was started for you. I can see that Jessi made notes multiple times on your order in the week that followed to get updates from the warehouse and confirm the status of your replacement items.

According to our process, we need to re-ship items in the case of missing or lost items. However, you still had the right and ability to make a return in the return window for your returnable items, which looks to have closed 9 days after receipt of your replacements, which arrived about 2 weeks after you contacted us regarding replacement. In this case, you could have returned the replacement items onces they arrived. I know it may seem confusing to have things ship if you intend to return them, but this allows our system to properly track where items are and account for them properly. We cannot return an item that was not physically sent back to us, so you needed to physically receive it first.

Thank you for your feedback. We wish you the best.

Regards,
-Alexandra

Great for my 2 year old

I’m so glad I upgraded from the infant size when my daughter turned 2/size 2T! This is my favorite way to do grocery shopping or anything that requires getting something done quickly. Much more efficient than the stroller (from which she’s always crawling out). The shoulder straps are very comfortable and it keeps her secure. High quality fabric and just beautiful to wear. Lightweight enough that it doesn’t make me sweat, thick enough that it feels very durable. I can stand up straight and work on my core strength, unlike other carriers I have which promote bad pasture.
