Tripod sitting

The onbuhimo requires the child to good "trunk" control. This is when baby is able to tripod sit. As soon as they do this, you can put them in the onbuhimo!

Standard size Onbuhimo

baby

Baby/standard size is a universal size of the carrier - it will fit an infant (who can tripod sit) as well as an older child. We recommend this size for children from 4 months until 2T pant length

Recommended for kiddos who are wearing a 2t pant size and mamas who want a snug comfortable fit.

Preschool Size onbuhimo

This carrier is much bigger than the toddler size. It will fit as small as 2T pants, but for parents who are small or only using this in the house, we recommend using this size when child is 3t-4t in pant length.

*Important information*

If you have never used an Onbuhimo, be prepared to practice with this carrier style. It is a more challenging style of carrier to use. It takes some patience and practice. Most people do not get it right the first time.

Fit-check photos can be posted in our Facebook group, or emailed to us. We have a group of others who will gladly help give you some tips and tricks, and sometimes they have a faster response time.

The Onbuhimo carrier is not the perfect style of carrier for everyone. You will only be using your shoulders to support your baby. The best way that we can explain how this carrier will feel on your body is to describe it as a bookbag packed full of books. If carrying a bookbag full of books would hurt your back soon after putting it on, we highly recommend looking at an SSC-style carrier like the LennyLight.

This style carrier may cost a little bit more but offers much more support since it has a waistband. The waistband will allow your whole torso to support your child’s weight. The SSC-style carrier also makes getting a comfortable fit for the caregiver and child much easier.

We hope this helps! Please reach out if you have any questions.

not easy to use at all!!

Hello, So sorry to hear you did not find the onbuhimo easy to use. The onbuhimo is our most advanced babywearing style, and it's not for everyone! If you email us at contact @ mama-roo.com, we would be happy to send you over our onbuhimo troubleshooting guide. Often small changes make a big difference in comfort and usability! We're also happy to help you find which carrier would be the best choice for you instead of this style. You can let us know what you're looking for when you email us, and/or you can take our quiz here: mama-roo.com/pages/baby-carrier-quiz. And, of course, we do allow returns and exchanges. You can find that information here: https://mama-roo.com/policies/refund-policy. Thank you for your feedback. Please let us know how we can best help you to get babywearing the way that works best for you and your family! -Alexandra, Founder, Mama & Roo's

Comfy, beautiful, functional

Very soft material, comfortable, love the ease of putting my baby in it and on my back. Not a lot of extra straps or steps.

Thank you so much for your review! We're so glad you're enjoying the simplicity of your onbuhimo. It's a great option! Definitely a favorite for many babies in our community =). Let us know if there's anything you need, and enjoy! Thank you again. -Alexandra, Founder, Mama & Roo's

The best carrier

I absolutely love this carrier. Ive had lots of different carrier for each of my babies and i like this the most. It’s so easy to take on and off and my son is much happier in it. So far i’ve mostly used it for front carry, but i plan to wear it on my back next time we go on a hike. Also, i love the dino print 💙

Thank you so much for your review! We love this carry for easy on and off, and the dinos are one of our favorites! So glad you're enjoying it. Let us know if you need anything, and have a wonderful day!

Complicated

Wonderfully made however we had such a hard time trying to figure out how to use on back. My daughter couldn’t do it by herself. We had to return.

Hello, Thank you for your honest review. The onbuhimo is our most advanced babywearing style, so it can take time to learn. It looks like we did reply to your request for support the same day you reached out, but we did not hear any more from you about whether those solutions were helpful, or if you needed more guidance or a fit check. Please know that we are always available to help you find the best fit for you, or the right carrier if the style you've chosen isn't working for you. Simply reach out to us at contact@ mama-roo.com or in our welcoming group at facebook.com/groups/mamaandroos

We hope you'll allow us to help you find a carrier style that is better suited to your family's needs.

Thank you and take care.
